India: Western Tragopan Expedition

There is just one goal on this short tour. See the mythical Western Tragopan, deep inside remote hill forest of the Great Himalayan National Park. We will dedicate four full days to searching for it, since this is a very rare and very elusive species. With luck, a glorious male will stroll into view, our whole reason for being here. Other specialists of the western Himalaya which may be seen include Black-headed Jay, Brown-fronted Woodpecker, White-cheeked Nuthatch, Nepal Cupwing, Variegated Laughingthrush, Black-and-yellow Grosbeak, and the lovely White-throated Bushtit. We have a small chance of encountering Spectacled Finch, but this species is always unpredictable.
